Theory and Formula for Simplification

Rule-(1)     Rule "BODMAS". Always follow the operations in the given order.

Explanation: Whenever we have more than one operation in the given calculation, we have to do the operations according to the order specified by "BODMAS"

  • B-Bracket
  • O-Of (means multiplication)
  • D-Division
  • M-Multiplication
  • A-Addition
  • S-Subtraction

  • For example-
    solve 2+4- 10 x 5,
    =2+4-50
    =6-50
    =-44
Rule-(2)    Take round-up value to the numbers to nearest integers.

Explanation: Most of the times the numbers are given in such a way that you can round them quickly and get the answer.

    Example: (124.8*15)/(6.01*24.99)

    Solution: (125*15)/(6*25)

      =1875*150

       =12.5

    Rule-(3)

Modulus of a real number a is defined as

    |a| = a, if a > 0
    -a, if a < 0

    Thus, |7| = 7 and |-7| = -(-7) = 7.

    Rule-(4)

    Virnaculum (or Bar):

When an problem or mathematical expression contains Virnaculum, before applying the 'BODMAS' rule, we simplify the mathematical expression under the Virnaculum.
