There are two type of Bar diagram :

(a) Horizontal Bar Diagram : This is used for qualitative data or data varying over space.

(b) Vertical Bar diagram : This is used for quantitative data or time series data.

(i) Simple Bar diagram : This is used to represent only one variate (or characteristic)

(ii) Multiple Bar diagram or Compound Bar diagram or Adjucent Bar diagram or Grouped Bar diagram : This is useful to compare two or more related series.

(iii) Sub-divided Bar diagram or Compound Bar diagram : This is useful to represent more than one character of a single variable.

(iv) Percentage Bar diagram or Divided Bar diagram : In this ,variable is taken as hundred percent . In this each bar has same height.
